As we begin treatment, we start by addressing how we can make our patients most comfortable. A large segment of the population avoids dental care because of fear. That fear can be of the pain, cost, or the unknown. Through open communication and disclosure, patients can generally cope better when they are well informed about the procedures.
However, for those who have a fear of dental care in general, sedation is available. Dr. Lais is one of the few dentists in the state of Arkansas who is licensed to provide I.V. sedation, which is the safest way to sedate a patient. Oral sedation is also available for those who have a fear of I.V. These sedations have an amnesiac affect so the patient does not feel the pain or remember the treatment time. This allows years of neglect to be treated in a fewer number of appointments. For those who can not tolerate any kind of sedation, we have access to a surgery center for general anesthesia.
