Nitrous Oxide

During your visit, we can discuss sedation options with you and create your personalized treatment plan for a relaxing and worry free dental care experience.

Nitrous Oxide

A fitted mask is placed over the nose and nitrous oxide is administered through a demand-valve inhaler that releases gas when the patient inhales through your nose. The depth of sedation can be altered at any time to decrease or increase sedation. Inhalation sedation is safe with no side effects. It is very effective in minimizing gagging as well. It works rapidly as it reaches the brain within 20 seconds. Typically, within 2-3 minutes its relaxation and pain killing properties begin to take effect.
These effects are completely gone within minutes of the gas being turned off after your treatment. This allows patients to relax during their treatment, and resume normal activities after their appointment.
